Configuring Zoomdata's Memory Settings

By default, the Zoomdata server is configured to use 16 GB of RAM. You can change this memory allocation by following these steps:

  1. From your terminal, SSH to your Zoomdata Server.
  2. Stop the Zoomdata Server service:
    sudo service zoomdata stop
  3. Edit or create the zoomdata.env file in /etc/zoomdata/ :
    vi /etc/zoomdata/zoomdata.env
  4. Add or update the following line(s):
    Do not allocate more than 85% of your total system memory to these services.
    • For Zoomdata Server:
      JAVA_OPTS="-Xss256k -Xms 20 g -Xmx 20 g"
      This example configures the Zoomdata server to use 20 GB of RAM. You can adjust the number to fit your system's needs. Replace the 20 with the necessary memory allocation for your operating environment.
    • For Spark Proxy:
      SPARK_PROXY_JAVA_OPTS="-Xms 1 g -Xmx 8 g"
    • For EDC Connectors:
      EDC_JAVA_OPTS="-Xss256k -Xms 768 m -Xmx 3 g"
  5. Save and exit the .env file.
  6. Start Zoomdata:
    sudo service zoomdata start

Once the Zoomdata Server has successfully restarted, open a new browser.
