Global Default Settings
The Global Default Settings section allows you to set the defaults for your time bar and enable or disable the search feature. You can access this section from the Charts page while connecting to or editing the details of your data source (see Figure 1 ).
Configuring the default time settings
In this section, you can select the time attribute that will be displayed on the time bar. All the time attributes from your data source are listed in the Time Attribute list. Select the required item (see Figure 2 ).
The selected time attribute will be used as the default and will be displayed on the time bar once you open the chart (see Figure 3 ).
The settings below will be applied to the selected attribute.
Configure other time settings as follows:
- Enable playback —select this checkbox to show the Play button on the time bar
- Live mode —select this checkbox to enable playing data in live mode
Configuring the Default Time Range
Once the data are retrieved from the data source, the Start of Data and End of Data are defined. In the Default Time Range section, you can define the time range of your data to be displayed on the time bar by default. In the Select by Range section, set the time period to be visualized on the chart by specifying the From and To values (see Figure 5 ).
The period shown in Figure 6 will be visualized on your chart.
The default values in the From and To fields are set depending on the time granularity that you have set for the time field on the Fields page.
You can also use the Time Presets section to quickly select the required time range (see Figure 8 ).
For live (streaming) data sources, you can select the Pin Start Time checkbox to lock the start time of the range (see Figure 9 ).
The Search Feature is available for
data sources and is enabled by default. The Search Feature allows you to enter keywords to quickly filter the data. If you do not want to use this feature upon opening your source, select
