Working with Live Mode and Historical Playback
Live Mode and Historical Playback allow you to get the most from data sources that support playback. Live Mode refreshes fields that are indexed as playable to update the data on your visualizations. In Live Mode, your data plays forever without an end date. Similarly, Playback shows the historical record of fields within that data source. Playback can show up to the last moment before the current period in your data source. The only difference between the two is time dates and what is selected.
Live Mode and Playback are dependent on having indexed or partitioned fields. If the data source in question does not have an indexed (partitioned) field, then Live Mode/Playback is not available.
For the selected data source, you must indexed or partitioned fields. For most data sources, indexing is the norm.
