Using the Chart Style Tool

After you have created an initial chart for your dashboard or if you are working on an individual chart in a dashboard, a menu of chart tools appear to the left of the chart canvas.

The Chart Style tool ( ) lets you quickly and efficiently change the type of chart displayed in the canvas area. This tool groups together families of similar charts to help you identify and select your desired chart type. In addition, you can format the font for the chart title and bar labels as well as customize different aspects of the chart that is displayed on the canvas.

To review the other tools available in the menu, refer to the article Charts 101: Exploring Your Data .

Select to open its pane. The following options are available:

  1. List of chart styles that are available for the selected data source. Common chart styles are grouped together for more convenient identification and selection.
  2. Settings: This option is available for Bar chart styles since it contains both 'Vertical' and "Horizontal' options along with additional sub-group styles (such as clustered, stacked, and more). This option also lets you edit the line thickness and show labels for each bar element.

The Chart Style tool features dynamic options, meaning that only options that are available for a particular chart style will display. All chart styles offer the Font option to edit the title label. But only some chart styles will have the option to edit the bar labels. And only the 'Bar' chart style offers the option to change settings.
