Zoomdata Version

Managing the MySQL Connector

The Zoomdata MySQL connector lets you access the data available in MySQL databases for visualization and exploration using the Zoomdata client. The Zoomdata MySQL connector supports MySQL version 5.6.

Before you can establish a connection from Zoomdata to MySQL storage, a connector server needs to be installed and configured. See Managing Connectors for general instructions and Connecting to MySQL for details specific to the MySQL connector.

After the connector has been set up, you can create data source configurations that specify the necessary connection information and identify the data you want to use. See Managing Data Source Configurations for more information. After data sources are configured, they can be used to create dashboards and charts from your data. See Creating Dashboards and Creating Charts.

Zoomdata Feature Support

The MySQL connector supports all Zoomdata features, except for the following features:

  • Box plots
  • Kerberos authentication
  • Partitions
  • User delegation
  • Wild card filters, case-sensitive mode

Connecting to MySQL

The MySQL connector requires a JDBC driver to be configured before you can connect to your data source.

  1. Download and install the version latest JDBC driver from https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/j/. Instructions are provided on that web site.

  2. After installing the driver, edit the MySQL properties file and change the driver path and class name properties, as shown below and as described in Adding a JDBC Driver:

    datasource.driver-config.class-name=com.mysql.cj.jdbc.Driver
    datasource.driver-config.jar-path=<JDBC_driver_filepath>

  3. Save the properties file and restart the connector. See Adding a JDBC Driver.
