Accessing the Editor from the Filters Sidebar

To access the Custom Metrics Editor or Derived Field Editor from the Filters sidebar of a chart or dashboard:

  1. Click the filter icon () to access the Filters sidebar for a chart or dashboard.

  2. Click on the Filters sidebar.

  3. Click the icon. The following menu appears:

  4. Select Add Custom Metric to access the Custom Metrics Editor and create a custom metric. Select Add Derived Field to access the Derived Field Editor and create a derived field.

  5. Be sure to save the dashboard after creating or modifying your derived field or custom metric. If you close the dashboard without saving, your derived field or custom metric will not be saved.

You can also access the Custom Metrics Editor and Derived Field Editor when you edit any custom metric or derived field listed on the Filters sidebar. See the following steps.

  1. Click the filter icon () to access the Filters sidebar for a chart or dashboard.

  2. Click on the Filters sidebar.

  3. Locate a custom metric or derived field listed on the Filters sidebar and click the ellipsis () next to it. The following menu appears:

  4. Select Edit on the menu to edit the custom metric or derived field. The Custom Metrics Editor or Derived Field Editor appears, depending on the field you selected.

  5. Be sure to save the dashboard after creating or modifying your derived field or custom metric. If you close the dashboard without saving, your derived field or custom metric will not be saved.
