Configuring the Time Bar and Search Features
The Global Default Settings section on the Charts tab of the data source configuration wizard allows you to set defaults for the time bar for charts using the data source configuration. It also allows you to enable or disable the search feature on the charts.
Configuring Default Time Settings
In this section, you can select the time attribute that will be displayed on the time bar.
All the time attributes from your data source are listed in the Time Attribute list. Select the required item. If you do not want to use the time bar, select None (Time Bar is Off).
The selected time attribute will be used as the default and will be displayed on the time bar once you open the chart, as depicted below.
The settings below are applied to the selected attribute.
Enable playback —select this checkbox to show the Play button on the time bar
Enable Live mode —select this checkbox to enable playing data in live mode
Refresh Rate - specify the refresh rate (a time period for querying the data source). The time granularity for the refresh rate is defined on the Fields tab of the data source configuration wizard in the Default column.
Delay By - specify the delay time to enable playing data in live mode with the required delay interval.
Configuring the Default Time Range
Once the data is retrieved from the data source, the default time range for the time bar is specified.
In the Select by Range section, set the time period to be visualized on the chart by specifying the From and To values.
The period will be visualized on your chart.
The default values in the From and To fields are set depending on the time granularity that you have set for the time field on the Fields tab of the data source configuration wizard. To set the From and To values, click the icon. In the Start Range and End Range dialogs, you can pick the date from the calendar or set a dynamic time.
You can also use the Time Presets section to quickly select the required time range.
For live (streaming) data sources, you can select the Pin Start Time checkbox to lock the start time of the range.
The Search Feature is available for Apache Solr, Cloudera Search, and Elasticsearch data sources and is enabled by default. The Search Feature allows you to enter keywords to quickly filter the data. If you do not want to use this feature upon opening your source, select Disable from the Search Feature list.
|The availability of these settings depends on the configuration of your data source.|
