The following connector changes were made in Zoomdata 4:
This release introduced connector load balancing. Using a new Consul service registration model, several instances of the same connector can be registered simultaneously and Zoomdata can distribute queries among them in a round-robin fashion. This ensures that you get uninterrupted service, even when a connector instance goes down. The unique connector server URLs for started connector instances appear in the list of connector servers on the Manage Connector Services page.
All Zoomdata 4.1 connectors use this new service registration model. However, the new model is not fully compatible with earlier versions of Zoomdata. Special configuration steps must be performed if you want to:
Use a Zoomdata 4.1 connector with an earlier version of Zoomdata.
Use a Zoomdata 3.1 (or earlier) connector with Zoomdata 4.1 (or later).
Zoomdata 3.2 to 4.0 connectors are fully compatible with Zoomdata 4.1.
See Migrating Connectors for Other Zoomdata Versions for more information.
This release introduces support for a new TIBCO Data Virtualization (TDV) connector. TDV versions 8.0-8.1 are supported with various back-end databases. See Managing the TIBCO Data Virtualization (TDV) Connector.
This release introduces support for a new Couchbase connector, including support for nested and multivalued fields. However, the following limitations exist for multivalued fields (including nested fields when they are also multivalued fields):
- The COUNT, SUM, or AVG metric result for a computed single-value field will be inaccurate when it is combined with any multivalued field in the same query.
- The COUNT, SUM, or AVG metric result for a computed multivalued field will be inaccurate when it is combined with any other multivalued field in the same query.
- With the exception of the TEXT_TO_TIME row-level function, multivalued fields created using row-level expressions can only be used as a chart's group or metric (and in filters when the same multivalued field is used as the chart's group or metric).
Couchbase version 6.0.1 is supported. See Managing the Couchbase Connector.
The following table describes specific connector changes made in Zoomdata 4:
Connector Changes Apache Drill Pushdown joins for fused data sources are now supported. User delegation is now supported. See Applying User Delegation to a Connection. Support for Apache Drill versions 1.11 through 1.13 are deprecated and support for Apache Drill versions 1.14 through 1.16 are added. Apache Solr Kerberos support has been added. You can now connect to a kerberized Apache Solr data store. For more information, see Connecting to Apache Solr Data Stores That Use Kerberos Authentication. Apache Solr versions 6.6 - 8 are now supported. Support is deprecated for all versions earlier than 6.6. BigQuery Pushdown joins for fused data sources are now supported. Cloudera Impala The maximum version of Cloudera Impala supported by Zoomdata is now 3.2 because this release of Zoomdata now supports Cloudera CDH 6.2. Support for Impala versions 2.5 and 2.6 are deprecated in this release. The minimum version of Cloudera Impala that is supported is now 2.7. Cloudera Search The maximum version of Cloudera Search supported by Zoomdata is now 7.4 because Zoomdata now supports Cloudera CDH 6.2. Couchbase A new Couchbase connector supports Couchbase 6.0.1. Support for nested fields and limited support for multivalued fields is provided. Elasticsearch Support for Elasticsearch version 5 is deprecated. The minimum version supported is now 6.0. Elasticsearch versions 6.0 - 6.7 are now supported. Elasticsearch versions 7.0 - 7.1 are now supported. MemSQL Pushdown joins for fused data sources are now supported. MemSQL versions up to 6.7 are now supported. Support for MemSQL version 5.0 and 5.1 are deprecated in this release. The minimum version supported is now 6.0. MongoDB Support for MongoDB version 4.2 has been added. We now support versions 3.4 - 4.2. Oracle
SSL/TLS support was confirmed, but requires an upgrade of the Oracle JDBC driver used by the Zoomdata Oracle connector. In addition, the updated Oracle JDBC driver requires additional setup steps if you need to use Zoomdata's Oracle connector to connect to tables that use the XML data type.
Oracle versions up to 18.3 are now supported. PostgreSQL PostgreSQL versions up to 11.1 are now supported. Support for PostgreSQL version 9.3 is deprecated. The minimum version supported is now 9.4. Snowflake Pushdown joins for fused data sources are now supported. Support for SQL views is now provided. SparkSQL Support for SparkSQL versions 2.0 through 2.2 are deprecated in this release. In addition, support for SparkSQL versions 2.3 and 2.4 are added. Teradata Pushdown joins for fused data sources are now supported. You can now limit the list of available collections in a Teradata data store to collections from a specific schema specified in the Teradata JDBC URL. Use the Teradata JDBC URL
databaseproperty to limit the list of available schemas as well as the list of available collections to collections from the schema. Work with your Teradata database administrator before you use this property.
A new TIBCO Data Virtualization (TDV) connector supports versions 8.0 - 8.1 with various back-end databases.
