Is the Cloud for Me

Is the Cloud for me

Watch this video to learn when the cloud might not be the best solution for your company.

Many companies have personally identifiable information (PII) that they need to protect, especially in tightly regulated industries like financial services and healthcare. Companies may decide to house that information behind the corporate firewall. On the other hand, putting operational data in the cloud makes a lot of sense. The cloud can scale to support huge data volumes more quickly and cost effectively than any on-premise solution. With the cloud, it’s not all or nothing. It’s what makes the most sense for your business.

We get asked a lot is the cloud for me, and there are instances where it's not. I mean, it does pop up. The cloud is not for everyone, and one of the most common reasons is that it comes down to security.

PII Data Security in the Cloud is An Issue

Many companies have PII information, information that's personally identifiable, and they cannot jeopardize or put any of that information at risk by pushing it outside the firewall. And for those companies that want to be conservative, they should not move that information to the cloud. When you think of your data across the enterprise, there truly is a spectrum of levels of information that you feel you could put into the cloud and information that you do not want to put in the cloud. And many times for many companies, it revolves around PII data or financial information that's not enormous in size, but it's information that really is tied to the enterprise and information that you surely don't want to see on the front page of The Washington Post.

Operational Data in the Cloud Makes Sense

But then, there's other more operational data that's in huge volumes and that the cost savings of putting into the cloud make a lot more sense, and also the need to scale and support that data really can only be solved by the cloud than the on premise deployment ever could. When you think of deploying into the cloud, it's not all or nothing. It's what makes the most sense for your business.
