Streaming Analytics and the Internet of Things

Are You On the Streaming Analytics Bandwagon?

Master Clss

In this webinar, Streaming Analytics and the Immediacy of Modern Business, Third Nature’s Mark Madsen and Zoomdata’s Ian Fyfe explain that to keep up with and profit from rapid changes in the marketplace, businesses need to harness streaming data.

Are You On the Streaming Analytics Bandwagon?

The number of use cases for streaming analytics seems to grow every day. But many businesses feel like the streaming analytics train is leaving the station and they’re still on the platform!

Well, this webinar — Streaming Analytics and the Immediacy of Modern Business — is for anyone who wants to get a better idea of what streaming analytics has to offer and how to get started.

Three Categories of Streaming Data Use

Mark Madsen gets things started by discussing the three broad categories of streaming data use:

  • Monitoring
  • Investigating anomalies
  • Automating actions

Then he gets into how people interface with streaming data and why data architectures designed for analytics tools that poll databases don’t work very well with streaming data. This scenario is very different than a tool architecture built on top of a stream.

Streaming Analytics for a Real-Time World

After Mark covers the fine points of data architectures and modern data stores, Zoomdata’s Ian Fyfe takes a close look at streaming data use cases. He notes that from cyber security and financial services to insurance and the smart home, the volume of streaming data continues to grow at an enormous rate — over 40 percent per year compounded. By 2020, there may be as many as 20 billion data generating devices connected to the internet.

And, like legacy architectures and data storage, traditional BI tools were not built for the real-time world. Established vendors are frantically trying to retrofit their tools, but it’s almost impossible to overcome the limitations of a legacy codebase created for polling relational databases with static data. Not to mention the sheer volume of streaming data available for analysis.

To bring home the importance of an analytical frontend and user interface built for streaming data, Ian finishes his part of the webinar with a Zoomdata demo.

If you’re a technology decision-maker, a product manager, a business user relying on analytics, or a developer pursuing marketable skills, this webinar is for you!
