Security Integration

Integrating Security and Analytics

Security is critical for any big data analytics solution. Enterprises need the flexibility to allow business users to explore data, while minimizing malicious threats by maintaining strict security governing data access. Zoomdata provides robust data security that ensures the "three As" of security -- proper authentication, authorization, and auditing of the visual analytics environment.

There is security intelligence built into the Zoomdata platform. When Zoomdata is integrated with or embedded in other applications, the software makes it possible to provide security across the parent application and Zoomdata, including user accounts, connections, single sign-on authentication and data access authorization.

The Zoomdata Administrative Framework provides a REST API with methods for retrieving, updating, and deleting Zoomdata metadata pertaining to accounts, connections, users, and more.

Data Access Authorization

Moving data creates unnecessary threats to data security. One of the key benefits of Zoomdata analytics is the platform's ability to query directly from a data source, eliminating the need to take custody of or duplicate the data in a proprietary database. This not only achieves big data scalability, but also reduces data security risks. Embedded Zoomdata visualizations integrate with the same security model as the Zoomdata server. Users get a seamless experience and businesses get peace of mind knowing their data is secure.

Data Access Authorization

Authentication

Authentication

Zoomdata also supports single sign-on (SSO) using Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), a secure, XML-based communication standard for authenticating identities between organizations, applications, and services.

Once Zoomdata authenticates users, it provides fine-grained authorization across application functionality and data access. Roles assign privileges to users and groups, controlling application functions such as the ability to modify calculations or save and share dashboards.

Roles also control access to underlying data. You can specify which sources users are permitted to see, down to per-column access within a single table. In addition, Zoomdata supports row-based security by assigning a filter to each user or group, which controls the data each user is allowed to see and analyze.

Auditing

Auditing provides a record of who has used the Zoomdata analytics platform -- either embedded or standalone -- what they've done, and when they did it. It proves the authentication and authorization configurations are working correctly in your BI solution. External regulators and internal auditors want to be able to review this record -- an audit trail -- of user activities.

Auditing is an effective way for a security or compliance officer or a security team to detect data breaches, attempted fraud, and other security threats. Zoomdata not only provides auditing but it supports centralized logging when it is embedded, eliminating the need to duplicate the logging environment.

Big Data Analytics Security

Whether your using a Zoomdata as a standalone BI platform or embedding it in other business applications, Zoomdata provides all of security's three As: authentication, authorization, and auditing.
